Part of my series This is the Book We Never Wrote, "I Balance My Life in the Garden" draws inspiration from my personal essay about the healing qualities of nature. I tell the story of facing a life-changing trauma which happened at the same time my newly designed garden was completed. Nurturing the plants and trees seemed to soften the blow… I was struck by their beauty which reminded me that yes, life may bring sorrow, but it also offers new possibilities, joy and hope. Reeling from pain and grief, my garden replenished me with life and a will to move forward.

ABOUT THE SERIES "This is the Book We Never Wrote"
About two decades ago, I began writing a collection of personal essays reflecting on life experiences, relationships, and milestones, with the intention of publishing them someday. When my son, Ari, learned of this project, he enthusiastically offered to illustrate each essay. We both embraced the idea wholeheartedly—Ari was an extraordinary artist, overflowing with spontaneity and boundless creativity. However, life had other plans, and Ari passed away in 2020.
Today, I am bringing our project to life through a 'book' of artworks. Each piece in this series symbolizes one of my essays, with excerpts subtly woven into the background. The 'chapters' of this book delve into themes of forgiveness, love, friendship, and healing. Throughout this creative journey, I have felt Ari's presence, cheering me on and guiding me.
In addition to sharing my life experiences, I hope these works also convey the narrative of resilience and growth in the face of unimaginable loss.
