She Took the Bitterness and Gave Me the Honey -- 17.5"Hx15"Wx1.5D
“She Took the Bitterness and Gave Me the Honey” is part of my series, “This is the Book We Never Wrote” which is a visual representation of a collection of essays I wrote 20 years ago. This piece explores the nuanced mother-daughter relationship, focusing on connection and separation, sacrifice, intimacy, and distance. Like everyone I have come to know and understand, my mother was a complex person. She worked tirelessly to support the family, often neglecting her own needs in the process. Looking back, I realize I needed more from her but never knew how to ask. Today, I am profoundly grateful for the love and life she gave me.
This work is professionally framed and ready for hanging. The frame is white and the work floats atop a white mat. To highlight yet protect the three-dimensional elements of this work, I invested in non-glare Museum Acrylic for the cover.
